Top 7 Upcoming Games of 2013

We’ve stepped into a generation where gaming has practically become life for every boy in town. They wait for the next title to be released so they can devour it to completion. Well, 2013 has a lot in store for them. Here we have created a list of the top upcoming games for this year ranked by the buzz they have already created on the world wide web (Best at the top).

Grand Theft Auto (GTA)

The Grand Theft Auto (GTA) series began in 1997 under the banner of DMA Designs. The title, Grand Theft Auto refers to motor vehicle theft where the player is given different missions by the Underworld Don of the city.  The player has to climb up the criminal ladder by performing various tasks such as taxi driving, street racing, fire fighting etc. GTA I and II were ‘2D’ versions whereas GTA III was ‘3D’ version. GTA IV, its expansions and GTA V (yet to be launched) are ‘High-Definition’ versions.

Grand Theft Auto

Grand Theft Auto V: GTA V is all set to be launched in spring 2013, by Rockstar North. It is expected to be the most promising game of the year. The game will be set in Los Santos (a fictional version of Los Angeles) amidst the mountain tops and oceans. It is the largest title in the series till date. The screenshots reveal a police chase and numerous cars and choppers. GTA 5 is expected to top Modern Warfare 4 and COD. It will be available in Xbox 360, PS 3 and PC.

God of war

God of war, a third person shooter game was developed by the SCE Santa Monica Studio. The first game was released in 2005. Since its release it has been one of the best games ever. The game is based on Greek mythology, with the Kartos struggling to seek revenge against the ‘God of War – Ares’. The player controls Kartos is who works for the Olympian Gods. A total of three games and its expansions have been released till date. The fourth game of the series is yet to be launched.

God of War: Ascension:
This is the latest version of the series, a prequel that is scheduled to be released on March 12, 2013.This will be the first multiplayer game of the series. The setup of this game will be the same. In this version Kartos breaks free from Ares’ bond and attains salvation. Kartos is depicted as a human who committed a sin by murdering his own wife and children. It will be the first chapter of the series. The game will be available in PS 3.

Game Attractions: Dynamic lightning effects, world changing scenarios, prompt less mini games and an altogether new combat and weapon system. 

The Last of Us

The Last of Us is action adventure game published by  Naughty Dog known for their blockbuster uncharted games. It was initially announced on December 10, 2011 and will be released on 7th march, 2013.

The Last of Us is centred around two characters name Joel and Ellie. Both of them are said to have a Father- Daughter like relationship. The game has a Third Person View where the player will control Joel and Ellie will be controlled by the artificial Intelligence. Joel and Ellie have to fight against the fungal- epidemic that broke about 2 decades ago in the apocalyptic drama. The game features survival and action elements and the end of the world looks awesome. It will be available in PS 3.

Game Attractions: The game offers multiple combat styles and is quite stealthier.

Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider is an adventure game centred on an English Archaeologist named Lara Croft in search of ancient relics and save them from a sinister Shadow League. There are a total of 11 such games, out of which 10 have been launched and 1 currently in production. Six games were developed by ‘Core Design’ and the recent ‘five’ are developed by ‘Crystal Dynamics’. The first game was launched in 1996. Since its launch it has been well renowned for its female protagonist and Lara became a major icon in the virtual gaming industry. She was recognised as the ‘Most Successful Human Virtual Heroine’ by the Guinness Book of World Record.

Tomb Raider: Reboot (2013) : Tomb Raider Reboot is all set to be published on 5th March, 2013. It is going to be completely different from the previous versions and so the subtitle, Reboot.Unlike previous games, Lara is depicted as a less confident and an inexperienced archaeologist leaving her fans in shock. It is her journey from the timid Lara to the one she has been portrayed in the series before. She is forced to her limits after being stranded on a deserted island in Japan and she HATES tombs. Good news is that this new version is going to be a multiplayer game. It also offers two gaming modes – The Rescue Mode and ‘The Cry for Help’ Mode. In rescue mode the one can play as a survivor (collecting and delivering med-packs) or as scavengers (trying to increase one’s kill count). Details of ‘Cry for Help’ mode are still vague. Tomb Raider Reboot will be available for Xbox 360, PS 3 and PC.

Game Attractions: Apart from the multiplayer mode, Reboot has terrific sound effects. The game will be launched with a branded Xbox controller.

Watch Dogs

After publishing their franchise for Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, Ubisoft is all set to launch their new game, Watch Dogs. This game will be launched this year and its first trailer was unveiled in Ubisoft’s E3 2012 conference.

Cover Watch Dogs

Watch Dogs is basically a third person open-world action-adventure game based in the city of New York. The theme of the game is hacking and surveillance. Players control the main character, Aiden Pearce, who is capable of hacking any or say every electronic system. The players can also control the protectors of Aiden, the Watch Dogs. It is a multiplayer game and will be available in PC, PS 3 and Xbox 360.

Game attractions: The player can interact with the Central Operating System (COS) and access information on demographics and probability of violence.

Sim City

Sim City is an open ended city building game developed by will wright. The first game was launched in 1989. Since then, around 5 such games have been developed. The sixth game will be launched on March 5, 2013. Sim City is a game where the player is supposed to develop and maintain a city.

Sim City 2013: Sim City 2013 is quite different from the previous versions, and the changes made are massive ones. Unlike the previous versions, Sim City 2013 is more focused on the building of roads rather than different zones. The game will use the latest GlasBox engine as simulator. This version is all about upgrading all that you have. The game also has overlays showing crime and pollution. The beta version for the game is already available. It is a six hour game leaving you wanting for more. It is a multiplayer game and will be available for PC and Mac OS.


Crysis is a series of first-person shooter multiplayer game developed by Crytek. The first game was launched in 2007. It is one the best games having the finest of graphic design. The game is futuristic where the player is supposed to invade the massive alien constructed structure. The player is given a ‘Nano Suit’, which provides him with supernatural powers. There have been a total of 2 games and one expansion. The third game is yet to be launched. 

Cover Crysis

Crysis 3: Crysis 3 will be launched on 19th February, 2013. The beta version of the game is available as for now.Crysis 3 is based in the city of New York where the player controls the prophet and is provided with high-tech weaponry. Prophet still has the Nano Suit and carries with him a Rambo 2 bow and arrow. It is a war against the evil CELL Corporation who built bio domes causing accelerated natural processes.  The game will be available for Xbox 360, PS 3 and Windows.

Game attractions: The location is an integration of the jungle from Crysis and the city from Crysis 2 and successful shots with the bow will be rewarded with a tracking camera shot.
